In Greece, historically, migratory and refugee flows arrive mainly by sea, if not only by sea. From the displacements of ancient migrations to the present-day arrival of hunted refugees, the sea is a risk factor, but at the same times a route of transit, escape and salvation. Greece's cultural face with its maritime nature over the centuries, such as the sea, is constantly changing and adapting to new conditions integrating immigrants, refugees and sometimes even invaders.
